Nodular fasciitis (A case report)

Abstract
|
|
|
This is a case of nodular fasciitis which arose from right sciatic notch and posterior aspect of right thigh of an eleven years old school girl.
On the admission, chief complaints were flexion contracture and motion limitation of right hip and flexion contracture of right knee joint for 3 years duration.
Physical examination revealed a palpable mass of egg size from sciatic notch to posterior aspect of thigh, and muscle atrophy of right extremity. Motion of right hip joint was limited to all direction at state of flexion 30°, abduction 20°, external rotation 15° and hamstring contracture 40° of right knee joint.
Tumor mass consist of 4 nodular firm tissue mass, the largest of which measured 6.5X2.3X2cm. They show multiple grayish white trabeculae, well circumscribed nodular mass within skeletal muscle with focal hemorrhage and necrosis.
The diagnosis of the nodular fasciitis was confirmed by pathological study.
